Job Description

 

    At Kripalu, healing is a path to wholeness. The Director of Healing Arts leads a team of talented practitioners offering services that restore balance, wellbeing, and vitality – all grounded in the Kripalu Approach. These modalities include traditional bodywork as well as Positional Therapy, Energy Work, Ayurvedic treatments and consultations, facials, Acupuncture and Metaphysical services. This position is responsible for hiring and developing all practitioners and administrative staff; creating and managing annual budgets; optimizing revenue and expenses; ensuring compliance with applicable licensure requirements; and high levels of guest satisfaction and employee morale. This role is a great fit for someone who has a strong passion for leading healing arts in a mission-driven, nonprofit setting where wellness is more than a trend. 

 

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS 

  • 40 hours, Monday-Friday 

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when operationally critical.  

ACCOUNTABILITIES 

  • Hires, trains, mentors, and leads 50+ practitioners and administrative staff including supervisors, coordinators, and reception staff.  

  • Sets department’s vision and strategic goals with Senior Leadership; continuously tracks progress using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).  

  • Develops and manages a budget of $3MM in revenue, continuously optimizing revenue and managing expenses to ensure profitability. 

  • Partners with marketing to develop campaigns and collateral that drive awareness and bookings.   

  • Analyzes the business and provides Senior Leadership with business plans and/or proposals that respond to business opportunities and risks.  

  • Develops policies and procedures that support the goals of the department to generate sales, operate efficiently, and build a positive work environment.  

  • Develops and implements exceptional and consistent guest service standards in alignment with the organization’s standards of Sacred Hospitality; analyzes customer feedback and provides strategic direction to continuously improve.  

  • Monitors industry trends and ensures that Healing Arts training, methodology, and services continuously evolve while remaining rooted in the Kripalu Approach.  

  • Ensures compliance with professional standards and state and local licensing regulations.  

  • Maintains best practices for record retention and privacy in relation to medical information, minor information, and consultation information, related to Privacy Laws and Regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, up to 6 hours. 

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. on a frequent basis. 

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, crouch, kneel, push, pull and twist repeatedly. 

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS 

  • BA and/or degree in Spa Management or related industry  

  • 5+ years managing a spa, healing arts center, or related hospitality area.  

  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.  

VALUED BUT NON-ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Knowledge of yoga and Ayurveda.  

  • Knowledge and experience of property management software.
